In the top left of the window, ensure that original sound is enabled and that your preferred microphone is selected. Skip to main content. Please check that your Zoom client is up to date. The client can be downloaded at unt.

Click on the Zoom Meeting link ex. Once you’ve connected to the Zoom meeting, you will be prompted to connect your audio.

You can select other speakers and microphones using the drop down menus. You can change your audio selections while you’re in the Zoom meeting by selecting the pop-up arrow next to the microphone icon on the bottom left corner of the Zoom meeting window. You can choose cameras and adjust settings by selecting the pop-up arrow next to the Video Icon. After selecting the Share Screen icon you will be able to select which of your windows or devices you’d like to share.

If you are unfamiliar with the settings you can always play a track as you introduce your event and check that others can hear before getting started with the event proper. Once your class is over don’t forget to stop the music via your music player app – simply removing your headphones will work for you, but not everyone else on the call! By law, you are required to hold the correct licence in order to play music in any public environment, online or not.

You should ensure that you have the right to exhibit the music you will use prior to your event see ‘Alternative music sharing methods’ below for a method that does not require a licence. If you’ve shared your device’s audio through your Zoom settings, as described above, your microphone doesn’t need to hear the music for it to be heard by your attendees. In fact, your audio quality will be improved if the microphone doesn’t pick up the music at all.

If it’s possible for you to connect headphones to your computer ideally without wires via Bluetooth, though wired headphones would work too if it’s safe for you to use them then you can listen to your music using these and ensure that your microphone only has to pick up the sound of your voice. Use an external microphone An external microphone is preferable if you have access to one. It should be positioned as close to you, the source of the sound, as possible.

If you hear your voice played back then this means that your microphone is working. If you do not hear your voice played back, press no and Zoom will work through the other options to find a working microphone.

Once these testing steps are completed, then Zoom will let you know that you are good to go! A box will pop up where you can change your selected speaker and microphone and test them again, adjust the speaker volume and adjust your microphone.
